About Dayna Pitzer
Her hospice experience deepened a commitment to grief and loss work and to helping people navigate difficult transitions. That commitment became personal when she cared for her mother, who battled ovarian cancer beginning in 2016 and passed away in November 2019. Following that period she stepped back from private practice to focus on healing while continuing work at the juvenile center.
In August 2020 she resumed private practice work through an online counseling service, and in early 2022 she transitioned to working full time through that service, shifting away from her prior focus on teens in the juvenile justice system and the parents of juvenile delinquency. Dayna brings experience with chronic medical illness and a broad range of mental health and relationship concerns, and she is dedicated to helping people build strength, find peace of mind, and address the challenges in their lives.

Therapeutic approaches and online care
Dayna uses client-centered therapy to create a nonjudgmental, empathetic space where people are encouraged to explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace. This approach helps clients build self-understanding and strengthen their ability to make choices that align with their values.
She also integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, a practical method that identifies patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to stress, anxiety, and depression, and works with clients to develop new coping strategies and problem-solving skills.
Dialectical behavior therapy is another approach she draws on for clients who struggle with intense emotions or impulsivity - it emphasizes emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and skills for improving relationships.
Finding the right approach is a collaborative process. Dayna works with each person to assess their needs, goals, and preferences, and she tailors techniques from these methods to fit the client’s situation rather than using a one-size-fits-all plan.
Online therapy offers practical flexibility - sessions can be scheduled as video calls or phone appointments, and brief support can take place via live chat or text-based messaging. These options make it easier to access consistent care around work, family, and other commitments while maintaining continuity with a licensed professional and a therapist who understands the challenges being faced.
