About Michael Michnya
Michael’s most successful clients bring a hopeful outlook and a readiness to change. They accept that lasting change grows from within and requires patience, persistence and honest collaboration. Those who value creativity, risk taking and clear communication tend to make the most of therapy by attending sessions, completing agreed-upon work between meetings and candidly describing what is and is not working.
He began his helping career in 1980 as a preschool teacher and moved into counseling through volunteer work with child abuse prevention. Therapeutic Approaches and Online Support
Michael integrates Client-Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into his online practice. Client-Centered Therapy emphasizes respect, empathy and collaboration - the therapist creates a supportive environment that helps clients explore their values and strengths and make choices aligned with their goals. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on identifying unhelpful thoughts and behaviors and developing practical strategies to reduce anxiety, manage stress, address addictive patterns and improve mood.Finding the right approach is part of the therapeutic process. Michael works collaboratively with each person to determine which methods fit best based on their needs, goals and preferences, adjusting strategies over time as progress unfolds and new concerns arise.
Online therapy offers flexible ways to connect - video calls, phone sessions, live chat and text-based messaging - which can make it easier to fit counseling into busy schedules, accommodate different comfort levels and maintain continuity during life transitions. Licensed professionals can use these options to deliver consistent care that supports relationship work, addiction recovery, parenting skills and personal growth without requiring in-person visits.
